Polycom VVX 500 / 501 Setup and Touch Interface Guide

The Polycom VVX 500/501 replaces hard line keys with a color touchscreen: line, BLF, and park assignments appear as on-screen tiles, and call controls are touch targets. Everything the VVX 400 does with keys, the 500 does with taps — the flows are otherwise identical.

Reading the tiles

Tiles carry the same status colors as physical BLF keys — green idle, red busy, flashing ringing. The lines view scrolls; heavy BLF layouts benefit from the paired expansion module rather than deep scrolling.

Resets and provisioning

Family procedures apply — see the VVX series page. Touch-model note: the boot-time factory reset uses the four corner touch-targets of the countdown screen instead of keypad digits.

Quick fixes

  • Unresponsive screen: reboot (unplug 10 s). Persistent ghost-touch after reboot is hardware — swap the unit.
  • Tiles missing/blank: the phone likely lost provisioning — check registration.
