Parking a Call and Picking It Up from Any Phone
Call park places a caller in a shared numbered slot that any phone in the office can retrieve — unlike hold, which keeps the call locked to your own phone. Park is the right tool for "call for Dr. Stein, line 1" moments: park, announce, and whoever's closest picks up.
Park a call
- With a park key: during the call, press an unlit Park line key. It lights, showing the slot is occupied.
- Without a key: transfer the call to a park slot number (your administrator publishes the slot numbers, commonly 701, 702, ...).
Then announce it — in person, by page, or however your office signals.
Retrieve a parked call
- Press the lit Park key on any phone, or
- Dial the slot number from any phone.
First phone to grab it gets the call; the slot clears.
What happens if nobody picks up
A parked call rings back after a timeout (set by your administrator; commonly several minutes) so callers are never stranded in a slot. If a park key blinks persistently, someone's caller is waiting — grab it.
Park vs. hold vs. transfer
You want | Use |
|---|---|
Caller waits, only you will resume | Hold |
Caller waits, someone else will take it, you don't know who | Park |
Caller goes to a specific person | Transfer |
