Polycom VVX Series Setup Guide — VVX 150 to VVX 601

The Polycom VVX series is fully auto-provisioned by Signal: add the MAC and model in the portal, connect the phone, done. This page covers the family-wide behaviors — factory reset, provisioning entry, and the per-model differences that matter (screen, line keys, sidecar support).

Factory reset (required for phones from another provider)

A VVX that previously served another provider retains its old provisioning server and will ignore Signal until reset:

  1. Reboot the phone; during boot, when the on-screen countdown appears, press and hold the reset key combination for your model (typically 1-3-5 or 0-1-3 on the keypad, or all four corner soft keys on touch models) until prompted.
  2. Enter the admin password — factory default is 456; phones from a provider often use the MAC address (lowercase) as the password.
  3. Confirm reset; the phone wipes local config and reboots.

After reset, the phone takes DHCP and reaches Signal provisioning if the device exists in the portal with the correct MAC.

Provisioning entry, if DHCP option 66 isn't in use

Home menu → Settings → Advanced (admin password) → Administration Settings → Network Configuration → Provisioning Server: set type to HTTPS and enter the Signal provisioning URL from your portal, then save and reboot.

Firmware

Signal serves a validated UC Software build per model; phones update on provision when the target differs. Do not manually flash firmware from vendor sites — mismatched builds break template features.
