Your New Desk Phone in Five Minutes — User Quickstart

Your desk phone is ready when its screen shows your extension number and name. Calls, transfers, and voicemail work the same across the Polycom VVX, Polycom Edge, and Yealink models Signal supports; only the button labels differ slightly.

Make and answer calls

  • Internal: dial a coworker's 3–4 digit extension and press Send.
  • External: dial the 10-digit number directly — no 9 prefix.
  • Answer: lift the handset, or press Speakerphone or the blinking line key.

The three keys you'll use most

  • Hold — the caller waits with music; press Resume to return. Held calls can only be resumed at your own phone.
  • Transfer — see Transferring calls for the difference between announced and blind transfers.
  • Mute — you hear the caller; the caller does not hear you.

Set up voicemail (two minutes)

  1. Press the Messages (envelope) key.
  2. Enter the PIN your administrator provided; change it when prompted.
  3. Record your name and greeting.

Messages can also arrive in your email as audio attachments if your administrator enables voicemail-to-email.

Do Not Disturb

DND sends every call straight to voicemail — and staying enabled by accident is the most common cause of "my phone stopped ringing." If your phone is silent, check DND first.
