Voicemail-to-Email — Get Voicemail as Audio in Your Inbox
Voicemail-to-email delivers each message as an email with the audio attached, seconds after the caller hangs up. Any voicemail box can send to one or more addresses, optionally transcribe the message to text, and — for teams that live in email — delete the phone copy after delivery.
Enable it for a mailbox
- Go to Settings → Voicemail Boxes, open the box, and select Settings.
- Enter the recipient email address — add more with Add Another Email (useful for shared boxes watched by a team).
- Set Attach voicemail to Yes; audio arrives as a standard .wav file.
- Optional: enable Transcription to include machine-generated text of the message in the email body.
- Optional: Delete after delivery removes the message from the phone inbox once emailed — the message-waiting light never lingers, and email becomes the system of record.
Recommended patterns
Box type | Setup |
|---|---|
Personal | One address, attach on, transcription per preference |
Shared (front desk) | Team distribution address, delete-after-delivery off so the phone light still signals unheard messages |
After-hours/general | Manager + backup address, transcription on for quick triage |
Note: transcription accuracy is good but imperfect — treat the text as triage, and listen to the audio before acting on details like phone numbers or dosages.
Compliance: voicemail may contain protected health information. Send it only to mailboxes covered by your organization's email compliance (encryption/BAA where required), and fold voicemail email into your retention policy.
